Rodin Museum

This is "The Colossal Head of Balzac" and it was aptly named. The Rodin Museum houses the largest collection outside of France. An unexpected bonus was a classical music concert in the atrium.

Another fabulous sculpture, this one cast in plaster.

I didn't get the name of this one unfortunately.  I was surprised to learn that Rodin had sculptures cast in medium's other than bronze.  We also learned that he had very poor eyesight so worked incredibly close to his art.  He was, at one point, accused of casting a man's body instead of sculpting it because it was so accurate.

Jim and I think Philadelphia is totally under-rated in our circles. Everyone asked 'why Philadelphia?' They don't know what they are missing. This city is beautiful! Right now we are having lunch at the Philadelphia Museum of art (third largest museum in the country). On our way over we happened upon a Catholic church that was unlike anything we have seen in the states. We were both awed by its grandness.
