Pumpkin Express

Wednesday we joined William's preschool at the pumpkin farm. I must admit, it is nothing like a traditional pumpkin farm (which we enjoyed in Morton). This "farm" probably doesn't actually grow anything but it is loaded with fun for the under 5 set. There is a little train, a big inflatable slide, bounce houses, tons of farm animals and, of course, a hayride.  The weather was crisp and clear - a perfect fall day.

William rated the bus ride as the highlight of his day. It was his first ride on a bus and he sat with his friend Sydney both ways (without parents). I thought that was pretty brave for both of them.

Here we are on the hayride.  It is about a two minute ride through 5 rows of corn (up against a subdivision of beige spec homes).  The kids loved it and enjoyed playing in the hay and watching the tractor tug us along.

William was a brave soul and let the goats eat right out of his hand and even held a squirmy baby chick.  He suffered a bit of a chicken scratch but was undaunted to pick up another.

The end of the field trip came to an end too soon for William, which was no surprise.  But he went willingly and was thrilled that everyone got a little pumpkin on their way out.  What a cool place!  He really worked it and struck a pose on the way out for me - while standing with his two main ladies (Sarah & Sydney).

He and Sydney couldn't get to the bus fast enough.  Up the stairs and off - I had to ask him to come back to pose.
