William has immersed himself in his first year of preschool with an energy completely different from his sister. He loves his teachers and his friends and asks almost each day if today is a 'school day'. I helped out in class last week and was able to catch some shots of him with his friends.
It was an exciting day when I was there since the sand table was out. This is a special treat for the children and they were thrilled. William really enjoys playing with two boys in particular, Cash & Drew. These boys share his creativity and love for building and trains. Most of free time you can find them on the rug building towers to drive various cars and trains up and over and through. He is so busy!
Yes, it is February, and in the picture below he is wearing shorts and a t-shirt. It has been his personal badge this month to wear shorts and t-shirts to school. Honestly, in a world of so many battles, this is one I have allowed William to emerge as the winner. I heard somewhere that no child ever died wearing shorts to school in the dead of winter.
The day I was there they were working on Valentine's for their parents. William is not much of an art boy, that has been evident since the beginning. I tried to stay away during the project since one of the teacher's was supervising but I loved being a spy. It was no different from home. The project entailed outlining the letters with watercolors and then decorating the Valentine with smashed up pieces of glued tissue paper. He colored the letters with great concentration and then declared he was done. His teacher has a wonderful way with him and cajoled him into adding a tissue paper piece to the Valentine. Then he was really done. But she was able to finally get him to add a few more with her sweet talk. It turned out beautiful, albeit minimalistic. He is certainly on par with some of the other boys who aren't as interested in the art either. Despite his lack of interest I was happy to witness him concentrating so much. He wasn't sloppy or rushing, he really took his time and was proud of his work. But goodness, you can't spend too much time when there are trains and cars to play!
