We got quite a bit of snow last week. Nothing to close schools or to make the roads terribly treacherous, but it was enough that the kids were dying to spend every minute outside. Every play date after school involved time in the snow. I am constantly amazed at the heat their little bodies generate. They are out there for hours and they come in warm and toasty under all their layers.
This is the playgroup crew getting wild and crazy in the snow at the Reilly's. Eleven kids between the ages of 2-7 makes for a seriously fun time. They played on the playset, pulled one another on the sleds and play acted all sorts of scenarios in the snow. The next photo was a classic that I couldn't have posed for all the money in the world. I was out in the yard taking pictures of the kids running around and I caught a glimpse of William behind me on the porch stairs getting a refreshment!
And this is the cute crew inside warming up with hot chocolates and home made chocolate suckers. What a lucky bunch!
Erin's friend Lucie came over on Wednesday and they spent the whole time out in the snow. They discovered that the shovels made far more effective 'snowballs'.
William and Jack were out playing with them for some time until the girls antics got to be a bit much for the little guys. They decided to come in and William said "Jack let's warm up by the fire." They plopped themselves in front of the fire and after about 2 minutes Jack jumped up and said "I'm all fired up now!"
The snow had accumulated so much at school that I promised Erin, William and Emma that they could play at Pierce Downer from the time school got out until it was time to go to religious ed. Those two girls are usually the pokiest kids out of school. Not on Thursday!! They were practically the first ones out! Interesting what a little incentive can do. They built snow forts with William for over and hour until I dragged them home for a quick snack. All in all it has been a super fun week.
