Last week the painters came and primed everything. It made the kitchen look much more finished. The green extension cord that Jim has rigged into the ceiling cans is from the fridge. There is no electricity on that side of the room yet.
The TILE has arrived! Jim and I had lots of fun picking that up from the store and bringing it home. It was so heavy and there was so much we had to take three trips. This is only a portion below.
The tile guys came on Tuesday and have been working piecemeal on the washer 'pad'/base and the bathroom floors. I LOVE the tile I picked and am super excited to see it all finished and grouted. Here is the laundry room with the new pad. It is concrete around the drain so it took a day to do it and let it set.
Day 2 of the tile. Laundry room floor and bathroom floor done! It is hard to tell in this picture, but the laundry room tile is a greenish gray without a lot of movement. I am planning to paint the walls in both rooms Monterey White, HC-27.
Day 3 of tile. He did tiled the washing machine base and almost finished the walls of the bathroom. Yep, we did tile up the wall that will be behind the mirror, vanity and toilet. It was a last minute decision not to do the small wall in between and I think I am going to regret that a bit. We were worried about not having enough tile and now it turns out we have plenty. No way to fix it without a lot of time/cost so we'll paint it and deal. The accent tile is iridescent and is called 'autumn'. It is recycled glass and blends well with the new tile.
Was anyone interested in staying in the guest room??? It is quite lovely right now.....
Today (12-12) Jim removed almost all of the tile from the laundry room. It was a big job but he was up to the challenge. Once the washer and dryer are removed and installed upstairs he will be able to finish it up. Jim and I are convinced there are hundreds of nails in this floor. This is what he is spending his evening removing as I type.
