Construction, Day 3

Today was the day to work on creating all the new space upstairs.  Walls were framed for the new guest room location, bathroom and laundry room.  This view is from the back of the house (formerly our sitting room) into the new bathroom.

As you can see the electrical is sort of hanging where the old wall used to be.  You can also see the line on the floor in the bottom left of the picture where there is still carpet.  That is the former sitting room while everything that is wood is the former guest room.

Here is Jim doing the laundry - perhaps not.  I don't think a new, more spacious home for the laundry will inspire him to start doing laundry.  At least he is willing to pose for a picture of him faking it!

Here is one of the extra benefits of construction.  This is in our room on the other side of the wall where they were doing work.  It looked like they were adding reinforcement to the ceiling joists and rammed one a little too far.  As a result, the bubble I have created for myself in my room has been punctured a bit. Scraps of plaster and dust are in here too!  It was inevitable.

Tomorrow they finish the framing and then the electrician should come to start on the wiring.  We finally signed on the dotted line for the cabinets today and are hoping for a delivery date of 6 weeks from today.  Right now I am working on lighting, tile and countertops for the kitchen.  I have lots of fabulous choices, it just boils down to what we want to spend.  I'll try to post some pictures of my options in the next few days as the picture taking of construction will come to a halt.
