Erin Learns to Tie!

 

Sunday, November 16th, 2008, Erin learned to tie. She has been asking since August to buy a pair of tie shoes but honestly, I didn't want to deal with it. I had no idea how long it would take her to learn, and I was just thinking about how long it would take me to tie two pairs of shoes every time we left the house instead of one. On this particular Sunday, we were at Yorktown together and she saw a darling pair of Keen gym shoes at Von Maur. She went crazy - "Please let me try these on!!" and "Please mom can we buy them!!". We bought the shoes and she couldn't wait to get home and practice tying. I asked Jim if he would work with her while I got William ready for bed. Honestly, no more than 15 minutes later she comes upstairs to show me (with no assistance) how to tie. I immediately ran for the video camera to record this historic milestone. It has been a couple of weeks now and she ties effortlessly on a daily basis. I guess she was ready!
