Here is the kitchen as of today. It seems that they put up some of the trim and got the island in place (big brown blob in the foreground). It is looking great. I am experimenting with lights in the cans to see how that effects the color of the cabinets. On the left and in the middle I have halogens and on the right is a regular bulb. I am sure it will make a big difference once the refelectors are in. As you can see on the right the oven cabinet is still not installed because they are missing a piece on the bottom. Hopefully that piece will come this week and allow them to continue.
This is a view of the kitchen from the laundry room. The island is easier to see - this is the side where there will be seating. On the left as you come in is my little 'desk' where we the phone will reside as well as all the paper stuff that always ends up in the kitchen. Jim is putting speakers in the ceiling in the kitchen so I can hook up my iPod here and listen to it!
We have only been home two full days but everytime we go into the garage it smells so bad! We were debating on the source until we both realized what it was at the same time. Something is dead. This has happened multiple times before but usually during the summer. A chipmunk finds his way inside and then someone closes the door on him. When our house is not under construction it is a difficult task to dig behind all the corners to find the dead rascal. Just imagine finding him now......
Anyone want to vote on a countertop color??
Or how about a paint color????
We aren't doing much entertaining in the dining room lately....and yes, that is another swatch of paint next to the window!

The kitchen is looking beautiful! You must be so happy to be getting closer to the end product. Happy New Year!
The 4th from the right! Not to busy. Perfect compliment to white.
I agree with Bill on the counter top color. Can't let the island get all the attention.
