Fantastic Fall

Today was a beautiful fall day! Erin, William and I took a trip to Maple Grove Forest Preserve in Downers Grove to collect leaves and relish the change of seasons. The temperature was perfect, the sun was out and the kids were in heaven. Sticks, decaying trees, falling leaves and forest friends were the highlights of our trip. We took a hike for about an hour and came home with two bags worth of treasures.

Jim met us there as the halfway point on his morning run. The kids enjoyed running with dad through the woods. After a grueling 26.2 miles last weekend, running two miles to meet us was a breeze!

And, as if it could get any better, we were off after nap time for a hayride at Danada Farm. The combination of good friends, s'mores, the smell of horses & a campfire made for a perfectly wonderful afternoon. William was so enamored with the hayrides that he went not once, but twice! Erin had more fun running with her friends, sneaking cookies when she thought I wasn't looking, and talking to the horses.
