Fall day at the Arboretum

Today was just a gorgeous day at the Morton Arboretum. All of the Fall scarecrows, created by local girl scout troops, were on display all around Lake Marmo. We took a walk around the lake to see them all. It was overcast and seems to be cooling off a bit here - maybe 65 degrees today. There were pumpkins on display everywhere, the variety was stunning. Erin and William enjoyed the Children's garden as well. Erin was able to paint a pumpkin and Will loved the slides made out of 'tree roots' and pumping water. We had a nice lunch overlooking the lake while we made plans for Jim to help us build our own scarecrow in the front yard.

This morning the kids got all the Halloween and Thanksgiving books down from the attic and they were thrilled. We are spending the rest of the day in the mosquito filled back yard (we have the tiki torches running non-stop!). I can hear Jim and Erin in back laughing and shrieking as they chase and have fun.
